How to setup Google Analytics for a WordPress Website.
Creating a Google Analytics Account
It's pretty straight forward how to create a Google analytics sign-on. Just like any other website login, they will ask you to setup using an email and password. It is good practice to use a Gmail account for your email, just to keep everything streamlined. You can go here to setup an email: Setup my Google Email
Next, do a simple search for Google Analytics on Google itself. You will be brought to a page that says, "Welcome to Google Analytics". Hit the Start Measuring button. From here you will be asked to:
- Create an account name, then hit next.
- Create a property
- Describe your business (ie.size, business type, etc.)
- Tell Google your business objectives
- Tell Google to start collecting data
- From here, you can set up a data stream from multiple sources...you can choose "Web" because you want to see your website traffic.
- You will need to specify your "WWW" name and hit the create and continue button.
- This is where you will copy and paste the code Google provides you into the header file of your WordPress website. A great tutorial to do this can be found on Youtube, :
